Navigating the Touchscreen
Your ShotClockr includes a stylus for easy touchscreen operation.
Tip: You’ll get the most accurate button presses using the stylus or any pen with the tip retracted.
(Fingertip works too, but a stylus is especially helpful for the smaller on-screen keyboard.)
Mounting Your Device
ShotClockr is designed to mount securely to nearly any sharps container using the included Velcro.
Popular containers:
- Tide Pod jug (clean, empty, label removed): sturdy and cheap
-
Ever Ready First Aid Sharps Container, 1 Quart, Split Lid: for a cleaner, medical look.
Note: ShotClockr has built-in mounting hardware for this specific container. No Velcro needed—just snap on!
Clean the surface and apply Velcro for other containers. Press firmly for best results.
First Time Setup
- Power Up: Connect ShotClockr to any USB power source. Wait for the main screen to appear.
- Enter Settings: Tap MENU.
Use +Y -Y +M -M etc. to set the year, month, day, hour, minute. Press SAVE to confirm.
- Set Timezone:
Tap TZ in the MENU.
Use + or - to cycle through timezone offsets (e.g. UTC-8 to UTC+14).
Note: If your area observes Daylight Savings Time, adjust the timezone when DST starts or ends.
- WiFi Setup (Optional, enables alerts & time sync):
In MENU, tap WIFI. Select your network, enter password, tap CONNECT.
The main screen will show your IP address and Time Synced to Internet when successful.
- Enter Pet Name & Email: In MENU, tap USER. Enter your pet's name, then your email address.
A test email is sent for confirmation. Check your inbox (and spam folder) and mark as not spam if necessary.
- Set Dosage (Optional): In MENU, tap DOSAGE.
Use + or - to adjust dosage in 0.5 unit steps (0.5 to 99.0 U). Tap SAVE.
- Ready to Use: Main screen shows time since last injection. Drop a used syringe in to log a shot.
How ShotClockr Works
- Each time you drop a used syringe into the container, the sensor logs the event, updates the timer, and beeps (unless muted).
- You can also manually log an injection by tapping INJECT on the main screen.
- The display always shows “Time Since Shot” and the current date/time (if set).
- If WiFi is connected, the main screen also shows your IP address and whether time is synced to the Internet.
Auto-Reconnect: If WiFi disconnects, ShotClockr will automatically retry connection about once per hour. When connected, it syncs the clock from the Internet.
Reminders & Alerts
- Exactly 12 Hours Since Last Shot: Device plays a gentle reminder beep.
- 12 Hours, 10 Minutes Since Last Shot: Device plays a louder alert beep. If WiFi is configured, an email alert is sent to your address.
- Device continues to play the louder alert beep once per minute until a shot is logged.
- All reminders use the time and timezone you set.
Logs: Viewing, Emailing & Clearing
- View History: Tap MENU then LOGS to view the injection history
(date/time + dosage + “Syringe” or “Injection”). Use UP and DOWN to scroll if more than 10 entries.
- Email the Log: In LOGS, tap EMAIL to send your current log file to your saved email address.
Requires WiFi and a valid email set in USER. You’ll see Log sent! on success.
- Delete Entries: Tap CLEAR in LOGS, then choose:
- Last — deletes only the most recent entry
- All — clears the entire log
- Cancel — exits without deleting
Log is stored on the SD card. If SD fails, an error will be shown.
Example entry: 08/07/2025 12:00 PM 0.5U Syringe
Muting & Screen Timeout
- To mute/unmute beeps, tap MUTE (or UNMUTE) in the MENU.
- To save power and avoid glare, the screen turns off after ~30 seconds of no use in low light; tap, drop in a syringe, or increase room light to wake it.
Setting Dosage
Tap MENU then DOSAGE.
Use + or - to adjust dosage in 0.5 unit steps (0.5 to 99.0 U).
Tap SAVE to confirm.
Dosage is included in log entries for each injection.
Timezone & Daylight Saving Time (DST)
Important: All log times and email alerts use your selected timezone.
Changing the timezone while connected to WiFi will also trigger an Internet time re-sync.
- From MENU, tap TZ to open timezone settings.
- Use + or - to select your correct UTC offset (e.g., UTC-6 for US Central Standard Time).
- Tap SAVE to apply.
- If WiFi is active, the device will re-sync to Internet time automatically.
If you live where Daylight Saving Time applies, manually adjust the timezone by +1 hour when DST starts, and back −1 hour when it ends.
WiFi Tips
- In WIFI, use SCAN to refresh the list, select a network, enter the password, then tap CONNECT.
- If you want to start fresh, tap FORGET to remove saved WiFi credentials.
- After connecting, the main screen shows your IP and whether the device is Time Synced to Internet.
